Prickly pear cactus
Posted on: 2008-11-19 05:41:39]
Explanation: I brought a piece of prickly pear cactus(I think) back to northern WI from TX a few years ago. It has got quite big as I have kept it outside in direct sun during the summer.
Can this plant adapt to the winter here if I was to plant it outside?
Answer: Hi there,
Wintering outside should be no problem. Even snow should not harm the plant although you could try and insulate the plant a bit. Try and plant it in a well aired spot where the melting snow will not get the soil too wet. Happy gardening.
