Is what I have considered an eating disorder?

Posted on: 2007-09-09 10:38:49]

Explanation:
I count the calories I consume on a daily basis and make sure the exercising I do burns off the amount of calories I consumed, or more. Also if I eat a large meal, even if it is just a large salad, which is all I eat for meals now anyway, I will find a way to make it to the bathroom and purge it if my parents aren't around. If I am home alone and my parents come home later, I tell them that I had a bowl of cereal or went out with my friends to eat. When I actually had nothing at all, or binged on cereal and such and then purged it out. Only a few times have my parents suspected I might have an eating problem... but they don't ever do anything about it, and they have never caught me purging, which I do pretty much on a daily basis while I am home. So please help me to find out if what I have is a big problem, or is actually considered an eating disorder. Thank You.
Answer:
I am not a doctor so I cannot officially diagnose you. Depending on your height and weight (which is crucial for determining whether one is Anorexic or just ED-NOS), assuming you are of low weight, and in my opinion you have Anorexia Nervosa Type 2 (the purging Anorexic). You could also be ED-NOS because you'd id not provide me with your height or weight. Also you did not tell me how long you have had this problem. I am am only going off of assumptions, and what I gathered from your question. I have provided you with some valuable links as well to help you further:
